Claire P. McDermott

Claire P. McDermott, 92, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Copley at Stoughton on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Daughter of the late George and Mary (Lane) McDermott, she was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester. Claire was a supervisor at the Boston Globe for many years before retiring in 1978. She volunteered for Catholic Charities in Brockton for several years and enjoyed traveling.

Claire was the sister of the late George J. McDermott, Helen Varney, Ann L. Milano and Marie A. Vosolo. She is survived by a niece, Joanne Poor and 2 great-nieces, Kim and Katie. She is also survived by her dear friends, Cicelia and Christopher Lally of Stoughton.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, October 22 from 9-10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Claire's memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
