Charles H. Starkowsky, 84, a resident of Middleboro, passed on at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, January 7, 2016. He was the husband of Elaine M. (Bunavicz) Starkowsky for 54 years. Son of the late Herman C. and Ruth H. (Morey) Starkowsky, he was born and raised in Stoughton. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Stoughton before moving to Middleboro in 1991. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1949 and Northeastern University. Charlie was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Starkowsky was the Town Engineer for the Town of Stoughton for 27 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Massachusetts Highway Association, Easton Rod & Gun, American Legion Post 89 and CW Welch Memorial Fish and Game Preserve both in Stoughton. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, gardening, photography and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Starkowsky is survived by his children, Louise R.S. Dancause and her husband Bruce of Brewster and Charles H. "Chuck" Starkowsky, Jr. and his wife Heather Lundin of Duxbury. He was the grandfather of Wesley, Spencer, Shaunna and Harrison Dancause and Henry and Sabine Starkowsky. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Jardin of Stoughton and many nieces and nephews.
