Charles L. Kahler, 79, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Sunday, January 5. He was the husband of Elaine M. (Grover) Kahler. Born and raised in Brockton, he was a resident of Stoughton since 1978. Mr. Kahler served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a machinist at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy for over 30 years before retiring 20 years ago. Charles was a member of the Baalis Sanford Lodge AF & AM in Brockton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and bowling.
Mr. Kahler was the father of Charles Kahler, Jr. and the late Charlene Wolfe. He was the stepfather of Donna Pietrafitta and her husband Philip and Douglas White all of Stoughton, Joseph White and his wife Connie of Killeen, TX, Joanne Crews and her husband Bob of Tampa, FL, Steven White and his wife Patty of Schenectady, NY and the late Stanley White. He was the brother of Royce Kahler of Sudbury, Wallace Kahler of Brockton and the late Paul, Russell, Quentin and Clayton Kahler, Rhoda Bows and Cynthia Hall. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, January 10 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Canton. Donations in Charles' memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
