Charles E. "Charlie" Dugan, 78, former President and Business Agent of Boston Mailers Union Local 1 in Boston, died Thursday, June 19, at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Marilyn M. (Hanley) Dugan. Born in Boston, he was raised in Hyde Park, Weymouth, Dorchester and South Boston. He was a graduate of Hyde Park Schools. He was a Veteran of the US Army. Mr. Dugan also attended Harvard Business School for Labor Studies and the George Meaney Center of Labor Relations in Washington DC. He was well liked and respected and very involved with Labor and Labor Relations both on a local and national level. Throughout his career, he worked for many newspapers, including the Boston Post, the Record American, the Herald Traveler and finally the Boston Globe. He retired several years ago. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Simba.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Charles E. "Chuck" Dugan Jr. of NH, Stephen J. Dugan of CO, Deborah A. Kenney of Stoughton, Richard M. "Rick" Dugan of E. Taunton and Melissa M. Wagner of VA. He was the brother of Joseph Dugan of Halifax, Dorothy Zaniboni of Canton, Frank Dugan of CA and the late Louise McMillan and Edward Dugan. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Donations in Charlie's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
