Charles L. Cittadino

Charles L. Cittadino, 98, a longtime resident of Sharon and recently of the Copley Nursing Home in Stoughton died Friday, April 19, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He enjoyed a happy marriage of 72 years with his late wife Florence L. (Lavezzo) Cittadino. Born and raised in Long Branch, NJ. he moved and graduated from Lyndhurst High School. He also was a graduate of Drake Business College in New Jersey. Charlie was a WWII Veteran of the US Army, serving in the Philippines as a Staff Sergeant in the Signal Corps from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Following his discharge he moved to Sharon and briefly worked for Westinghouse, before accepting a job with Raytheon, where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1987. A devout Catholic, he was an active communicant at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Sharon. Charlie was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Sharon. In his later years he was asked to speak about his war experiences in WWII memorial events. Upon his retirement, Charlie enjoyed golfing with family and developed a love of woodworking and frequently gifted wooden toys to family and neighbors. Charlie was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed the Red Sox and Patriots.

Charlie is survived by his son, Charles L. Cittadino, Jr., his wife Margaret of Sharon, and his grandson, Nick Cittadino. He leaves behind his devoted sister-in-law Elsie Goodwin and many nieces and nephews in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Son of the late Leon and Ida (DeFrancisco) Cittadino, he was the brother of the late John Cittadino.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Friday April 26th from 9:30-10:30, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon.
