Catherine E. (Gifford) Neild

Catherine E. (Gifford) Neild, 89, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died peacefully at Brockton Hospital surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 17. She was the wife of the late Frederick R. Neild. Born in Brockton, she was a graduate of Brockton High School and Boston Medical Secretarial School. Mrs. Neild was an early development specialist for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 20 years before retiring in 1985. She was a longtime member of Christ Congregational Church in Brockton. An avid Boston sports fan, she also enjoyed waterskiing and bowling.

Mrs. Neild is survived by her children, Frederick Neild, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of San Jose, CA, Deborah Doody of Raynham, David A. Neild and his wife Catherine of Auburn, NH and Janice Cahill of Whitman. Catherine was the sister of Arthur Gifford of Modesto, CA and the late Allan Gifford. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held from Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant St., Brockton on Friday, April 20 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
