Catherine M. “Kay” (Hart) Cummings, age 89, of Stoughton and Harwich, passed away peacefully on September 21st with her six children by her side. Kay was born and raised in Mattapan and graduated from Hyde Park High. She was a resident of Stoughton for 65 years and was a weekly communicant and long-time volunteer at St. James Church in Stoughton, where she was an especially faithful participant at Bingo nights. Kay was a loyal visitor to the Irish Cultural Center in Canton and enjoyed fun times with friends and family there. She will be remembered by many for her selflessness and devotion to her family.
Kay was the cherished daughter of Patrick and Catherine Hart of County Cork, Ireland and baby sister of 5 brothers: William, John, Daniel, James and Leo, all of whom predeceased her.
Beloved wife of 63 years of the late John J. Cummings, she was the devoted mother of John P. Cummings and his wife Barbara of Stoughton, Kathleen A. Thompson and her husband Newton of Medfield, Ann M. Cashman and her husband Sean of Bridgewater, Thomas F. Cummings of Stoughton, Patricia M. Wedge and her husband Ronald of Norton and Maureen L. Montrond and her husband Wayne of Middleboro.
Kay was the Loving Nana of Nichole Woods, John Robert Kilcommons, Kristina and Philip Thompson, Colleen Wright, Kelly Bowser, Sydney Cummings, Cory Daigneault, Jessica Cummings, Wayne and Sarah Montrond. She was the Great grandmother of Riley, Myles, Declan, Trevor, Abel, Landon, Brynn, Beau and Sawyer.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday, September 25, 2023 from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Milton Cemetery, Milton.
