Catherine M. (Flynn) Coulter, 89, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, October 21, 2016. She was the wife of the late William H. Coulter. Daughter of the late James J. and Kate (Lennon) Flynn, she was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester. She was a Class of 1944 graduate of Nazareth High School in South Boston. Mrs. Coulter was a resident of Stoughton since 1951.
Catherine was Vice President and Branch Manager at BayBank in Stoughton, where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a Stoughton Town Meeting Representative for over 30 years and was a member of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce. She was a Trustee at Old Colony Hospice for many years and volunteered for Leaps for Literacy at Brockton Public Schools for years. Mrs. Coulter was a Founding Family member of St. James Church in Stoughton and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, painting, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, trips to casinos and exploring her Irish heritage.
Mrs. Coulter is survived by her children, Nancy A. Puckett of Avon, William J. Coulter of Stoughton, Jean L. Rachlen of Canton, Joyce M. Coulter and her husband Robert Blackmon of Florida and Mary T. Coulter-Bennett and her husband Steven Bennett of Stoughton. She was the grandmother of Catherine, Daniel, Thomas, Hollie, Kendall and Mia. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Flynn of Virginia, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, October 25 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
