Carson A. Milley

Carson A. Milley, of Stoughton, died at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Monday, September 17 after a long illness, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 75. Born in Hyde Park, he was raised in the Boston South End the youngest of seven children. He was a star on Boston Trade School and independent basketball teams and was an amateur boxer. Mr. Milley received a Purple Heart for service in Korea in the Army 45th Infantry Division. He returned to Dorchester, married and moved his family to Brockton in the 1950's. He lived in Stoughton since 1976. He owned a successful general contracting business until his retirement.

Mr. Milley was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and was active with the Massachusetts Chapter of Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO) after his kidney transplant in 1993. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Celtics and Red Sox with his 3 grandchildren. Known to all as "Papa," he coached his grandchildren in youth basketball and attended all their school, sports and dance events.

Mr. Milley leaves his wife, Louise E. (Sears) Milley, his daughter, Caryn Milley Shea and her husband John of Stoughton; his son, William Milley and his wife Diane of Raynham; his grandchildren, Carson Milley Shea, Jacqueline Milley Blankenburg and Erich Blankenburg; his sister, Lorraine Palos of CA and his brother, John Milley of PA. His sister, Trudy Black, passed away on September 8, 2007 at age 81 and he was also preceded in death by his brother, Herbie Milley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, September 22 at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Service at Christ Congregational Church, Brockton at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
