Carmen I. Vila, 75, died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Ms. Vila came to the United States in the early 70s with her two oldest children and eventually settled in Boston where she got her degree in Social Work. In the early 90's she moved to Chicago to raise her youngest son. She worked as a Social Worker for the State of Illinois for many years, retiring several years ago. Ms. Vila enjoyed her work, helping others and volunteering. She often said the three most important things were Kindness, Jesus and her Social Work. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Ms. Vila is survived by her children, Carlos A. Badias of CA, Yazmin Badias Fadjo of Quincy and Alexander T. Rivera of IL. She was the sister of Angela Smedley and Monica Vila both of GA and Mona Manzano of Puerto Rico. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
