Carmelia C. Melo, 87, a resident of Fall River, died accidentally in Fall River on Saturday, August 25 after being struck by a vehicle. She was the daughter of the late Antonio daCosta Melo and Maria Diamantina (Costa) Melo. Born and raised in the Azores, Portugal, she resided in Stoughton for 32 years before moving to Fall River 13 years ago. Miss Melo was a factory worker in the Stoughton area for several years before retiring 22 years ago.
Carmelia is survived by her siblings, Elsa P. Melo and Eva C. Melo both of Fall River and Raul Costa of Stoughton. She was preceded in death by 19 brothers and sisters. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, August 30 from 8:30-10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
