Carlos J. Almeida, 84, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Saturday, February 28, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Maria B. (Serpa) Almeida. Born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he came to Stoughton in 1974. He served in the Portuguese Army. Carlos worked in housekeeping at the Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton for 21 years before retiring in 1996. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, painting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Almeida is survived by his sons, Jose R. Almeida and his wife Alice and Carlos M. Almeida and his wife Beverly all of Stoughton, as well as his grandson, Eric Almeida. He was the brother of Aurora Garcia of Portugal and the late Joao, Jose, Manuel and Amelia Almeida and Maria Teixeira. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, March 3 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
