Brenda Y. (McMullen) Augustinos, 67, a longtime resident of Boston, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Daughter of the late Daniel J. McMullin and Jean H. (Flemming) Wortinger, she was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada and educated in Boston schools. She spent her lifetime working in the food industry. Brenda was fondly known to her family and friends as "Queenie," a title she wore well. She served the homeless in Boston every Thanksgiving. She was a member of the Elks in Brookline and the Moose Lodge in Dedham and was an avid Bingo player, card player and sports fan. Brenda and her sister Shirley, who passed away 5 days before her, enjoyed trips to Foxwoods together.
Brenda is survived by her children, Gregory K. Augustinos of Brunswick, MD, Michael K. Augustinos of Dunkirk, MD and Kathleen Prestipino and her husband Tony of Dunkirk, MD, as well as her grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda and A.J. Prestipino and Jason Augustinos. She was the sister of Charles W. McMullen and his wife Debbie of Hillsborough, NC, Cathy M. Shea and her husband Jim of Canton and the late Shirley E. Santos, Tricia A. McDonough, Don McMullin, Doug McMullin and Greg McMullin. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bert Santos and her sisters-in-law, Loie McMullin and Margie McMullin. She was the former wife and dear friend of the late Clyde P. Augustinos and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, godchildren and too many friends to mention.
A Celebration of Brenda's life will be held at the Old Colony Yacht Club, 235 Victory Road, Dorchester on Sunday, March 25 from 1-4 PM. Since Brenda was a breast cancer survivor, her family requests that donations in her memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
