Beverly A. (Wilding) Mahoney, 86, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was the wife of the late John J. "Joe" Mahoney. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she moved to Stoughton in the 5th Grade and was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. She also graduated from the Brockton Academy of Beauty Culture. Mrs. Mahoney lived at Leisurewoods in Rockland for the past 26 years. She worked as a hairdresser for several years and also worked as an Instructor and Manager of the Brockton Academy of Beauty for several years. Mrs. Mahoney started the Cosmetology program at South Shore Vocational Technical High School in Hanover and worked as a teacher there until her retirement at age 67. She was the former President of the Massachusetts Cosmetology Association. Mrs. Mahoney was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and a former CCD Teacher. She was a member of the Red Hat Club and the Massachusetts Teachers Association and during the Vietnam War she was active with Another Mother for Peace. She enjoyed talking politics and was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, making afghans and spoiling her grandchildren. She often said that she was lucky to live a long and wonderful life and her family takes comfort in the fact that she is reunited with her husband.
Mrs. Mahoney is survived by her daughters, Janice E. Christiano and her husband William of NH, Jean M. McInnis and her husband Robert of Harwich, Joyce A. Mayer and her husband William of Raynham and Joanne F. Karavetsos of Easton. She was the beloved grandmother of Kevin McInnis, Greg Christiano, Lauren O'Donnell, Alexandra Karavetsos and Nick Karavetsos. She was the sister of Gilbert "Butch" Wilding of Raynham, Trudy Johnson of Stoughton, Leslie Geraigery of Brockton and the late Dorothy Wood. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Due to floral regulations at the cemetery, Bev's family has asked that donations be made to Beverly Mahoney Memorial Fund, South Shore Vocational Technical High School, 476 Webster St, Hanover, MA 02339, Attn: Business Office or Children's Hospital, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, 02215 in honor of the loving care extended to their family throughout the years.
