Ben Reynolds, Sr., 72, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, March 2, 2017. He was the husband of Maxine T. (Gibbs) Reynolds. Son of the late Samuel and Violet (Welmon) Reynolds, he was born and raised in Newton and graduated from Newton High School. Ben was an Equipment Operator Petty Officer 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy and a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1973. He was a police officer for the City of Newton for a few years before focusing on inventions he was working on. His passion was tinkering and repairing various items and inventing new items.
In addition to his wife, Ben is survived by his son, Ben Reynolds, Jr. of California, as well as his twin sister, Brenda Butler of Georgia. He was also the brother of the late Fanny Saunders, Pearl Meredith, Hope Beckett, George Butner and Beverly Clark. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, March 8 at 11:30 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 10:30- 11:30 AM. Interment will be private.
