Basil Campbell, 70, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 9, 2019. He was the husband of Dornel Williams. Basil was born and educated in Jamaica. He loved to garden and cook and had a passion for being a gatekeeper at the Jubilee Church in Stoughton. For many years Basil was a bar manager at Sandals Resorts and later was a chef at the Wingate Nursing Home. Above all, Basil loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Basil was the father of Richard Campbell and his wife Marie, Suzette Campbell and Camille Campbell all of Jamaica, Natasha Campbell of Connecticut, Boyd "TC" Campbell and his wife Marsha of Florida, Greg Campbell and his wife Tensa of England, Warren Campbell and his wife Nicole of New York and Maceo Campbell of Brockton. He was the grandfather to 18 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 3 great-grandchildren. He had two brothers who passed away before him. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Eugenie and her husband Albert Grant as well as 1 aunt, 8 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law.
Funeral will be held from the Jubilee Christian Church, 1278 Park St., Stoughton on Thursday, March 21 at 10 AM. Visitation prior to service from 9-10 AM. Interment will take place at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Donations in Basil's memory may be made to his family, c/o Dornel Williams, 50 Richard St., Brockton, MA 02301.
