Barbara A. Showstead

Barbara A. (Dennehy - Pardy) Showstead, 70, of Brockton, died Sunday January 9 at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton after a lengthy illness. Born on November 10, 1940 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Ava M. and Frank J. Dennehy. Barbara worked as a school bus driver for Unda's Bus Company in Stoughton before working for many years at BAT(Brockton Area Transportation) as Director of Safety, before retiring to enjoy her family and her many interests. She enjoyed reading, working in her flower garden and the many arts and crafts she was always working on. Barbara's family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at West Acres Nursing Home for the extraordinary care and kindness provided to her over many years. Also, we would like to thank Maryellen Downey, RN, Ashley Logan and all the staff of Beacon Hospice in Fall River for being there for her during her final days.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Pardy) DeBenedictis and husband Michael of Lakeville, Sandra (Pardy) Lorina and husband Anthony of Boulder City, NV and Jody (Pardy) DiStefano and husband Robert of Brockton; her son, David Pardy of Berkley; her brother Stephen Dennehy and wife Maria of Newport Beach, CA. She was the grandmother of Cori and Kayla DeBenedictis, Dario and Lana Lorina and Jamie and Mia DiStefano.
Memorial Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private.
