Barbara E. McDermott

Barbara E. (Rubel) McDermott, 87, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at her home after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Paul McDermott. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a graduate of St. Mary's School and Stoughton High School, Class of 1945. She worked for the McCormick Insurance Agency in Avon then the Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton before retiring many years ago. A friend of Bill W., she was a longtime member of Sharon Country Club and the Fieldbrook Woman's Club in Stoughton. In her free time, she enjoyed playing golf.
Mrs. McDermott is the sister of Jean Hill of Brewster and the late James Rubel, Joan Mead and Marie St. Thomas. She was the aunt of Barry G. Mead and his wife Janice of Mashpee, Coralee Rivers and her husband James of Bridgewater, Jim Hill and his wife Linda and Bill Rubel and his wife Barbara all of Brewster, Michael Hill and his wife Beverly of Osterville, Laurice Rubel and Alan Rubel both of Stoughton, Nancy Rubel and Sally St. Thomas and the late Kim Mead. She was the sister in law of Dolores McDermott of Stoughton.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, December 30 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
