Barbara A. (Groark) Gallagher, a 60-year resident of Stoughton, died March 18, 2017 at The Village at Willows Crossing in Mansfield. She was 85. She was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School. She was the daughter of the late John and Teresa Groark and was the sister of the late John "Jack" Groark, Jr.

Mrs. Gallagher was an airline stewardess before getting married in 1955 to Bill Gallagher. They settled in Stoughton and raised four daughters. She was an active volunteer at the former St. Mary's School in Stoughton when her daughters attended. She retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Boston. She enjoyed reading, especially historical non-fiction and mysteries, and lobster dinners with her family.

She was the widow of William K. "Bill" Gallagher and was also pre-deceased by her daughter, Kathleen M. "Kathi" Gallagher Dembrowski. Members of her family include daughters, Judy Wakefield and her husband Scott of Andover; Eileen "Leenie" Shalginewicz and her husband Paul of Bridgewater; Susan Gallagher of Norton; and four grandsons, Derek and Kyle Wakefield and Zachariah and Zebulon Shalginewicz.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, March 27 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-5 PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 845945, Boston, MA 02284.
