Audrey (Taylor) Rodriques, 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday, October 16 at the West Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after months of failing health. She was the wife of the late Joaquim "Jack" Rodriques.
Born in Woburn, she was raised in Boston, graduating from Dorchester High School for Girls and Boston State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science Degree, before moving to Stoughton in 1968. Mrs. Rodriques worked as a Teacher in the Boston Public Schools for 43 years. She was a devout member of the Charles Street A.M.E. Church where she was a proud member of the Usher Board and Sarah B. Gorham Women's Missionary Society. She was an avid bowler, loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Donna Holmes-Lockett of PA, Lawrence E. Holmes, Jr. of Milton, Bruce Holmes of Stoughton and Maurita Chukwuezi of RI. She was the mother in law of Marvin Lockett of PA and Stephanie Lewis of ME. She was the loving sister of Juanita Lopes of Abington, Edwina Taylor of Beverly, Christine Hill of Brockton and sister in law of Lillian Mallory of CA. She was the stepsister of Marcella Tatum, Muriel Tatum, Tony Dance and Charles Dance. She is also survived by many grandchildren, 1 great grandson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Sunday, October 21 from 3-6 PM. Funeral Services will be held in the Charles Street A.M.E. Church, 551 Warren St., Roxbury on Monday, October 22 at 11 AM with visitation prior from 10-11 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton with a repast in Roxbury at Charles St. A.M.E. Church.
Donations in Audrey's name may be made to a scholarship fund being established at the Church.
