Arthur C. Niethold, died Wednesday, January 10, 2024 on his 93rd birthday, at his home in Stoughton after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Bennett) Niethold. Born in Boston, he was raised in Sharon and was a graduate of Sharon High School, Class of 1949 and continued his studies at Wentworth Institute in Boston. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving for over three years, including over a year overseas during the Korean War. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he returned home to Sharon where he married and raised his family. Arthur was a longtime resident of Sharon and moved to The Arbors in Stoughton in 2020. He worked as a Print Manager for Itek and the Litton Corporation in Lexington for many years, retiring at age 62. Art was a longtime member and former commander of the VFW in Sharon and a member of the American Legion in Peabody. As a member of the Greatest Generation, he was a true patriot and loved the USA. He was a sports fan and loved spending time with his beloved family in his free time.
Arthur is survived by his children, Arthur A. Niethold of AZ, Norman C. Niethold of FL, Arlyn B. MacCuish of N. Easton, Brian C. Niethold of Sharon and Amy E. Niethold of NM. He was the brother of Clara Malinowski of N. Attleboro and the late Agnes Ross, Mildred Peterson and Charles “Bub” Niethold. He was the grandfather of Christy, Patrick, Anne, Kenneth, Aidan and Charis and is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 12 Noon. Visiting Hours omitted. Interment will take place at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Art’s memory may be made to American Heart Association.
