Arthur E. Carlson, 78, died Tuesday, March 6, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of declining health. He was the husband of 54 years of Barbara A. (Smith) Carlson. Born and raised in Norwood, he was a graduate of Norwood High School. Mr. Carlson was a Korean War Veteran of the US Navy. He worked for New England Telephone in Brookline and Boston for many years in Management. He retired several years ago. Mr. Carlson was a resident of Stoughton for over 50 years and also enjoyed spending his summers in Swifts Beach in Wareham. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Stoughton. A dedicated family man, in his free time, he enjoyed reading, woodworking and watching the Red Sox.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Nancy E. Kezer and her husband William of Easton and Jill M. Russell and her husband Paul J. of Stoughton. He was the beloved Papa of Jennifer and Shaun Kezer and Courtney, Brendan and Emily Russell. He was the brother of Ruth Carter of Norton. He is also survived by several lifelong friends.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 10 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Canton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Art's name may be made to the Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
