Arthur J. "Campy" Camplese, 90, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the VA Healthcare Center in Brockton after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Fran (Scaduto) Camplese. Born in Boston, he was raised in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston Schools. Mr. Camplese was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He served in World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Camplese was a longtime resident of Roslindale before retiring to Sandwich 25 years ago. He worked as a Machinist and Tool & Die Maker for the Beacon Morris Company in Brookline for over 25 years and also worked for Chelsea Clock. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox, who always enjoyed a spirited discussion on politics. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
He was the brother of the late Mario, John and Ettore "Edward" Camplese and Olga Camplese Ferris. He was the brother in law of Theresa & Joe Reardon of Franklin, Manuel Gomes of Taunton, Ines Scaduto of FL and Fina Scaduto of CA. Mr. Camplese was a loving uncle to his cherished nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton on Friday at 12:00 Noon. Visiting hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton prior to the Mass from 9-11 AM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
