Arthur B. "Brent" Bishop, Jr., 80, a resident of West Bridgewater, formerly of Stoughton and Port St. Lucie, FL, died peacefully at home on Monday, May 22, 2017. He was the husband of Ann F. (Tobin) Bishop for 27 years. Son of the late Arthur B. and Mertie M. (Davis) Bishop, he was born and raised in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1954. Brent was a firefighter with the Stoughton Fire Department for 28 years before retiring in 1997. He also worked part-time at Harbour Ridge Country Club in Palm City, FL. He was a longtime member and Treasurer of the Firefighter's Local 1512. Brent was also a member of the International Association of Firefighters, the Wareham Elks and the Massachusetts Retirees Association. He was active in the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Stoughton 4th of July Field Day. He enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife, Brent is survived by his children, Terri Lee Ross and her husband Tim of Stoughton, Kim A. DuBose of Sumter, SC, Lori J. Williams and her husband John of Okeechobee, FL, Arthur B. "Tiger" Bishop, III and his wife Carol of W. Bridgewater, Mary Greene and her husband Jim of Onset and Daniel Brienze and his wife Danelle of Corona, CA. He was the brother of the late Lorraine Thorn, Carol Ray and Robert Bishop. He was the former husband of the late Patricia (Thompson) Haron. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and his "little girl" Paisley, the cat.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brent's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn., 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
