Armenia (Miranda) DaCosta, 88, a longtime resident of Somerville, died Thursday at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Manuel DaCosta. Born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, she came to the US at age 16. She attended Somerville Schools and worked as a homemaker. Mrs. DaCosta was a resident of Stoughton for the past 7 years, previously living in Somerville. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, Bingo and singing.
She leaves her children, Armenia "Gerry" Figueiredo of Middleboro, formerly of Stoughton, Natalie Sears of Bridgewater formerly of Medway and Manuel C. DaCosta of MA. She was predeceased by her husband Manuel DaCosta, her children, Anthony DaCosta and Lillian Callaghan and her grandson Edward Figueiredo. She was the grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 13.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, February 13 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM.
