Armand "Eddie" E. Lessa, 90, a longtime resident of Stoughton, was called to rest on Friday, September 5, 2014 from the West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton. Armand was born on February 5, 1924 in New Bedford, MA to the late Antone Lessa and Angelina (Barros). He was raised in Stoughton and lived there his entire life. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 18, 1942 and was proud and honored to have served his country for four years as a Boatswain Mate 1st Class aboard LST 720 in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and the European-African-Mediterranean theater.
Eddie owned his own business, Fashion Floors in Stoughton center in the late 50's and continued working in that field with Moran Floorcraft and Paramount Rug companies until his retirement in the 80's. He was a lifelong member of the Portuguese National Club and was also a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed following the Red Sox, fishing and playing Sueca, but he was most happy being with his family and vacationing with his children and grandchildren, especially by the sea. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Priscilla (Beals); his dear brothers Tony and Joseph and his sister Laura Saints.
He is survived by his loving children Donna Centamore and her husband Stephen of Brockton, Debra DiCenso and her husband Peter of Easton, David and his wife Nancy (Brennick) of FL, Diane Saltzman and her husband Lance of RI and Daniel and his wife Penny (Sawyer) of Pocasset, his nine adoring grandchildren, Lisa and Michael Centamore, Robert and Nichole DiCenso, Megan, Kerri, and Christopher Lessa, and Jake and Justin Saltzman. He was blessed to know 11 great-grandchildren, Colin Soucie, Carly and Joseph Sinkiewicz, and Grace Centamore, Finley and Beau Tammaro, and Robbie Allen, and Tinsley and Belle Lessa, Ronan Saltzman and Mackenzie DiCenso. He was the brother of Donald Lessa of Stoughton and Donaldo Lewis of NC. He was survived by many nieces and nephews. His infectious smile and high moral standards will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, September 9 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
