Aproniano Elgar, 94, a longtime resident of North Kingstown, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA after a brief period of failing health. He was the husband of 55 years of Alice E. (Davidson) Elgar. Born in Nabua, Camarines Sur, Philippines. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1946 and proudly served until 1970, retiring as a Steward 1st Class for the Flag Officer's Mess. Following his service in the Navy, he worked for many years as the Chef de Cuisine for the renowned Custy's International Seafood Buffet in North Kingstown, RI. An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, he enjoyed gardening in his free time.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Kathi G. Caianello and her partner Christopher Bertrand of Cumberland, RI and Jacki A. Elgar and her husband George Hagerty of Stoughton, MA. He was the grandfather of Kaitlin S. Elgar Elwood.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at a later date at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Arrangements by Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton, MA. Donations in his memory may be made to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Ln., Hyannis, MA 02601.
