Antonio R. Serpa, 90, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his home, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 63 years of Amelia (Silveira) Serpa. Born in Lajedo, on the island of Flores in Portugal, he was raised and educated in Flores. Mr. Serpa came to the United States in 1969 and settled in Stoughton. He worked for the Plymouth Rubber Company in Canton for many years, retiring at age 62. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Mr. Serpa was the father of Octavia Serpa and her husband the late Helder Matias, Renato Serpa and his longtime companion Kwi Gallagher and Alda Serpa all of Taunton and Nazare Parker and her husband David of Middleboro. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; Alina Parker, Brendan Parker and Evan Parker and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday, March 24, from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
