Antonio F. Dias, 91, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the BayPointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. He was the husband of the late Maria T. (Teixeira) Dias. Born in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he was raised and educated in Flores. Mr. Dias moved to the United States in 1969 and settled in Stoughton, where he has lived since. He worked as a Machine Operator for Vulcan Forms in Brockton for over 18 years, retiring at age 62. After his retirement, he worked as a landscaper until age 79. An accomplished card player, in his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard, watching soccer, cooking and playing cards.
He was the father of Jovan Dias of Stoughton, Alzira Murphy and the late Rosemarie Dias. He was the grandfather of James Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Jacqueline Murphy, Anna Albert and Jovan Dias. He was the brother of Catarina Dias of Portugal and the late Alfred Dias, Jose Dias, Manuel Dias and Maria do Carmo Dias.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, November 18 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
