Anthony J. Schuko

Anthony Schuko, 84, died Friday, December 30 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of 56 years of Catherine "Kay" (Hufnagel) Schuko. Born in Boston, he was a resident of Stoughton for 46 years. Anthony attended Boston Schools and was a WWII Veteran of the US Army Rangers. He was a member of the 88th Infantry Division, "The Blue Devils" and experienced heavy combat numerous times, much of it hand to hand. He was in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign. While fighting in Africa, he fought with the French Foreign Legion. While fighting in Sicily, he made several friends and memories to last a lifetime. He was wounded twice in combat. Mr. Schuko was awarded two purple hearts and a bronze star. He was also the receipient of two Italian Medals, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the American Campaign Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. Anthony worked as an electrician and was a member of Electrician's Union Local 103 in Dorchester for 40 years before retiring. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 32 in Brockton. In his free time, he enjoyed his tomato plants and his German Shepherds.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Schuko is survived by his five sons, Paul, Anthony Jr., John, Danny and Stephen and nine grandchildren.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, January 4 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM.
