Anthony J. Lanza, 80, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at his home after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of 59 years of Ruth E. (Russell) Lanza. Born in Boston's North End, he was raised and educated in the North End and Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of Commerce High School in Boston. He worked as a Tractor Trailer Driver for UPS in Watertown for 30 years, winning several driving awards. Mr. Lanza was a member of Teamsters Local 25 and was also the President of the New England Teamsters Pension Improvement Committee for many years. He was a handyman who could fix anything and loved cars. He was an avid Boston Sports fan who, in his free time, enjoyed working around his house and spending time with his family.
Mr. Lanza was the loving father of Catherine M. Welch and her husband Robert of Easton, Anthony J. Lanza Jr. and his wife Kathy of Beverly, Michael J. Lanza and his wife Elaine of Bridgewater, Nancy A. Welch and her husband David of Tyngsboro and Elaine M. Gorman and her husband Joseph of PA. He was the brother of Mary Moore of MO and the late Paul Lanza, Rosina "Penny" McMullin, Pauline Boger and Samuel Lanza. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, March 10 at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday, March 9 from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
