Anthony Fernandes, 93, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Saturday, April 23, 2016. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Pombo) Fernandes. Born in Stoughton, he was raised and educated in Madeira, Portugal before moving to Stoughton in 1942. Anthony worked for American Biltrite in Stoughton for 35 years before working for Draper Bros. in Stoughton for several years until he retired in 1993. He was a member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton and enjoyed playing cards.
Mr. Fernandes was the father of Anthony R. Fernandes, Jr. of Bridgewater and the late Mary L. Warner. He was grandfather of Anthony and Russell Fernandes and Terry and Robert Warner. He was the brother of Mary Coehlo of Stoughton, Teresa Bettencourt of California and the late Alfred Jardin and Bernardo Fernandes. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, April 28 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
