Anthony R. DiStefano, 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of the late Rita D. (Capozzi) DiStefano. Born in Brockton, he was raised and educated in Brockton. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army. Mr. DiStefano lived in Stoughton for over 47 years. He worked as a builder for Precision Door & Window in Stoughton for over 30 years, retiring over 20 years ago. Mr. DiStefano was a member of the VFW and Sons of Italy both in Stoughton. He was an avid baseball fan and former coach for Stoughton Little League. He was also an avid and lifelong gardener.
He is survived by his five sons, Robert A. DiStefano and his wife Jody of Brockton, Anthony R. DiStefano Jr. and his wife Ruth of Easton, Joseph E. DiStefano and his wife Cindy of E. Taunton, John P. DiStefano of Stoughton and Edmund R. DiStefano of FL. He was the brother of the late Albert N., John, Julio and James DiStefano and Mary Damiano. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte 27), Stoughton, on Wednesday, May 12 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in his name may be made to the VFW, 837 Washington St., Stoughton, 02072.
