Anna G. Greene

Anna G. (Spillane) Greene, 97, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died at her daughter's home in Stoughton on Monday, January 19, 2015 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Fred L. Greene. Born in Stoughton, she was a graduate of St. Mary's School, Stoughton High School, Class of 1935 and Boston City Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1939. Mrs. Greene, along with her dear friend the late Rosemary "Richie" Higginson, owned Happy Hours Nursery School in Brockton for 18 years. She then was a registered nurse at Braemoor Nursing Home in Brockton for over 20 years before retiring in 1984. Anna was a volunteer at St. Paul's Kitchen in Brockton, St. James Church Bingo and the New England Sinai Hospital both in Stoughton. She loved spending summers in Hull for over 70 years and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Greene is survived by her daughters, Barbara A. Farley and her husband Jay and Marybeth G. Anderson and her husband John all of Stoughton and Michele H. Maguire and her husband Steven of Bridgewater. She was the grandmother of Michael Poulos and his wife Kara of North Easton, Melisa Poulos and her husband Timothy Flacke of Wayland, Marcie Poulos Barese and her husband Eric Barese of Chevy Chase, MD, Justin Maguire and his partner Katy Jenkins of Harwich, Brendan Maguire of Plymouth, Patrick Maguire and his wife Erin of Plymouth, Gregory Anderson and his wife Jenna of Sandwich, Kathleen Williams and her husband Michael of Snohomish, WA and Karen Milleson and her husband Russ of Portland, OR. She was the great-grandmother of Abby, Andrew and Nicholas Poulos, Eleanor, Owen and Ruth Flacke, Jack and Ashley Anderson and Henry Maguire. She was the sister of Mary A. Krowski of Stoughton, Jean E. LeBarre of Florida and the late Helen E. Spillane. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, January 24 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne on Monday, January 26 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna's memory may be made to Catholic TV, PO Box 9196, 34 Chestnut St., Watertown, MA 02471 or Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
