Anna E. (McGrath) Byron, 96, a longtime resident of South Dennis and Stoughton, died November 21, 2018 at Liberty Commons in Chatham. She was the wife of 70 years of the late James P. Byron. She was born and raised in Canton. Mrs. Byron was a bookkeeper at Kennedy Manufacturing in Stoughton and the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton before retiring in 1982. She was active in the Sodality at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and various senior activities on Cape Cod. She loved gardening and "walking the canal."
Mrs. Byron is survived by her children; Dennis Byron and his wife Judy of Milford, Kate Byron of Dennis, and Patrick Byron and his wife Jan of Stoughton. She was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Byron, her parents, Dennis and Mary (Lane) McGrath, and her siblings, Catherine Reilly, Mary Dineen, Gertrude DeMay, Dennis McGrath, William McGrath and Charles McGrath. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelley St. Coeur, Eileen Radcliffe, Shauna Downey, Maura LaPlante, Nora Dolan, Colleen Byron, Sean Byron and Mikaela Byron as well as 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, November 26 from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bethany Health Care Center, Office of Advancement, 97 Bethany Road, Framingham, MA 01702, a ministry of Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston.
