Ann M. (McCarthy) Sperandio

Ann M. (McCarthy) Sperandio, 95, died Wednesday, October 26, at the Southwood Nursing Home in Norwell after a long period of declining health. She was the wife of 66 years of the late Peter J. Sperandio, EdD. Born and raised in Peabody, Ann was a graduate of Peabody Schools. She was also a graduate of Salem State College, where she was President of the Class of 1939. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 55 years. Mrs. Sperandio retired from Cardinal Spellman High School as a Business Education Teacher. She enjoyed spending her summers on West Island in Fairhaven and 25 years of retirement and world travel with her beloved husband Pete.

Mrs. Sperandio was a member of the Stoughton Art Association, the Immaculate Conception Church and was a volunteer at the Stoughton Food Pantry. She was also a docent at the Fuller Art Museum in Brockton. In her free time, she enjoyed swimming at the YMCA in Easton, singing, oil painting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary A. Dempsey of Easton, Margaret P. McEwan of Whitman, Kathleen A. Bernier of Hanson, Eileen M. Sperandio of Canton and Nancy E. Sullivan of Stoughton and her son John D. Sperandio of Germany. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Richard P. Sperandio and her brothers Charles McCarthy and J. Byron McCarthy and T. Ray McCarthy. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on
Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Donations in Ann's name may be made to the Stoughton Art Association, 720 Park St., Stoughton, MA 02072. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
