Ann T. (McCarthy) Gillis, 83, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with her husband by her side. She was the wife of 52 years of John E. "Jackie" Gillis. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Dorchester and was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 52 years. Mrs. Gillis worked as an Accounting Clerk for several area businesses for many years, retiring several years ago. She was a longtime active communicant of St. James Church in Stoughton. Ann loved the simple things in life; spending quality time with friends, Sunday Drives, having lunch with her sister in laws, Time at Castle Island in South Boston, vacationing in New Hampshire and Scratch Tickets. Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Patricia McGonagle and her husband Michael F. of Billerica. She was predeceased by her son Robert J. "Bo" Gillis. She was the beloved grandmother of Conor M. and Molly P. McGonagle. Ann was the sister of the late James McCarthy, Thomas McCarthy and Mary McCarthy. She is survived by many members of the Gillis family and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, July 7 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
