Angelo "Joe" Gianni

Angelo J. "Joe" Gianni, of Linden Ponds in Hingham, formerly of Stoughton, died Saturday Aug. 3 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 91. Mr. Gianni was the husband of the late Marie J. (Carew) Gianni.

Born in Boston on Feb. 27, 1922, Mr. Gianni was the son of the late Guiseppe and Concetta Gianni. He played football and basketball in high school and graduated from the Boston Trade School in 1941. Mr. Gianni served in the US ARMY during WWII as an Airplane Hydraulic Mechanic. He worked for 40 years at White Motor Co., of Boston as a Truck Mechanic and Heavy Duty Truck Salesman. Mr. Gianni also volunteered as a counselor at the Roxbury Neighborhood House for many years. He loved sports, was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox. Mr. Gianni is lovingly remembered by his family as being an amazing father who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Gianni is survived by his two sons, Robert J. and his wife Patricia of Hingham and Edward J. and his wife Erin of Easton. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew, Lauren, Catherine, William, Olivia, Anna and Emily. Mr. Gianni was also the brother of the late Mary, Maurice, John and Anna Gianni.

Funeral from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte 27) Stoughton on Wed. Aug. 7th at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., (Rte 27) Stoughton at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Tues 5-8pm. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, 4th Flr., Randolph, MA 02368-4172.
