Dr. Andrew G. Croke, 71, of Stoughton, passed away suddenly on December 7, 2015 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was the loving husband of Janice A. (Spinelli) Croke for 43 years. He was born in Providence, RI to the late John E. Croke, Jr. and Gertrude R. (Grimes) Croke. After graduating from St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI in 1962 and Providence College in 1966, he attended The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Upon graduation in 1972, Dr. Croke completed residency at the RI Hospital Samuels Sinclair Dental Center, and he was proudly named as a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry in 1982. He then had a successful family dental practice in Stoughton and Plainville for over 25 years. Dr. Croke also continued his involvement with the Samuels Sinclair Dental Center as a volunteer providing dental care for the underserved and as a residency instructor throughout his career. Dr. Croke lastly worked as a dentist for the Massachusetts House of Corrections before retiring in 2013.
Dr. Croke is best remembered for his dry wit, love of history and easy going nature. He was also deeply devoted to his family and church. As a long time communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Stoughton he served as a religious education teacher, Eucharistic Minister and a New England Sinai Hospital volunteer.
In addition to his wife Dr. Croke is survived by his three children, Christopher A. Croke and his wife Stephanie of Garnet Valley, PA, Jeffrey M. Croke and his fiancé Christin of Quincy, MA and Bethany A. Croke Schell and her husband Kevin of Quincy, MA, as well as his grandchildren, Gavin A., Ryan S. and Megan H. Croke. He was the brother of Gertrude Toher of Lincoln, RI, Constance Michaud of Cape Coral, FL, Virginia Hitt of Naples, FL and the late John E. Croke, III. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, December 11 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
