Ana (Corvelo) Avelar, 99, died unexpectedly Friday, October 10 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of 68 years of the late Guilherme M. Avelar. Born in Cedros, Flores, Azores, Portugal, she was educated in Flores and came to the United States in 1975, settling in Stoughton. Mrs. Avelar was a homemaker. She was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton.
Mrs. Avelar is survived by her children, Maria Baeta and her husband Jose and Joao Avelar and his wife Leotilda all of Stoughton. She was the sister of Joao Corvelo of CA and the late Pedro Corvelo, Maria Corvelo, Amelia Corvelo, Jose Corvelo and Antonio Corvelo. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Jose Avelar. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins and her daughter-in-law Beatriz Avelar.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, October 14 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-7 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
