Amelia I. (Lombardi) Gregory, 99, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at her home under the care of Old Colony Hospice. She was the wife of the late John F. "Charlie" Gregory. Born in Bronx, NY, she was raised and educated in Canton and was a graduate of St. John's School and St. John's High School. Mrs. Gregory was a resident of Stoughton since 1941. She worked as a Cafeteria Manager at the South Elementary School in Stoughton for many years, retiring at age 65. She was a member of the Stoughton Democratic Town Committee since 1960, the Stoughton Golden Agers and the Stoughton Seniors. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, traveling to Foxwoods, playing bingo and walking around town with her walker.
She was the mother of Audrey M. Mahoney and her husband Dr. Paul Mahoney of GA, Loretta Anne Pitta and her husband John and Marylou Gregory-Lee and her husband Richard Lee all of Stoughton and the late Giovani DiGregorio. She was the sister of Sadie Estabrook of Stoughton and the late Joseph Lombardi, Antoinette Carucci, Felix Lombardi, Philomena Porcaro, Annie Lehan. She was the grandmother of Laura Mahoney, John Mahoney, John Pitta, Michael Pitta, Karen Lee, Suzanne Lee and Jenna Strickland and the great grandmother of Laura Bryson Tedford, Avery Pitta, Torin Pitta, Timothy Lee, Brendan Lee, Zachary Strickland, Brooke Strickland, Catherine Sjogren and Flynn Sjogren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her cat Millie.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park. Donations in Amelia's name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368
