Alphonse Robert Ferent

Alphonse Robert Ferent, III, 51, died Tuesday, January 24, at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River after suffering an accident at work. He was the beloved husband of 24 years of JoAnne C. (MacDonald) Ferent. Mr. Ferent was raised and educated in Braintree and was a graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1983. He also attended Massasoit Community College in Brockton. Mr. Ferent was a resident of Stoughton for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 25 and worked at the Stop & Shop Warehouse in Freetown and Readville for many years. He was a man of many talents and loves and brought joy to his family and friends. He was a Justice of the Peace and had the privilege to officiate at the weddings of several of his nieces and nephews, including the wedding of his nephew last Friday. He was a nature lover, guitar player, painter, writer and grill master who loved driving his bright yellow Jeep. Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors, mountain biking, fishing, hiking and boating and listening to the Grateful Dead. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sarah Hazell and her husband John of Franklin. He was the beloved Grandpa of Parker and Brody Hazell and the son of Irene Mallett and her husband George and the late Alphonse R. Ferent, Jr. He was the brother of Christine Ferent-Pomphrey of Boston, Teresa Ferent of Canton and Jennifer Ferent. Bob was the brother in law of Marianne Mackie and her husband Kevin, John MacDonald and his wife Lisa, Joseph MacDonald and his wife Mary and Christine MacDonald. He was the uncle of Elizabeth Sandler, Emma Martin, William Mackie, Matthew MacDonald, Olivia MacDonald, Joseph MacDonald, Katherine MacDonald, Hannah MacDonald and Patrick MacDonald. He also is survived by his great niece and nephew Noah Sandler and Ella Sandler.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, January 28, at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
