Almerinda B. Baptista, age 93, passed away on December 1, 2023, at Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. Born in Lajes do Pico, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Epifanio B. Baptista and Maria (Simas) Belem Baptista, and was raised and educated in Faial. She became a U.S. Citizen in the early 80’s and made a life for herself in the States, becoming a lifelong resident of Stoughton. She was involved in the community at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, and sang in the choir at the church for many years. She loved puzzles, reading, and playing the organ and keyboard as an avid music lover. She was a “fashionista” known for her hats, pocketbooks, and shoes. She loved life, and had a great sense of humor that always made someone laugh in her presence. She will be greatly missed.
Almerinda is survived by her siblings Helena Franco of Easton, Manuel Baptista of Portugal, and was preceded in death by her sibling, Epifanio Baptista, Domingos Baptista, and Maria Lucila Camara. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
Almerinda was a woman of faith, and believed in science, and made the selfless act of donating her remains to the Anatomical Gift Program at Harvard Medical School.
