Albert N. DiStefano, Sr., 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 16 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Anna M. (Venuto) DiStefano. Born and raised in Brockton, he was a resident of Stoughton for 47 years. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. DiStefano was the owner of A & A Contracting in Stoughton since 1958 and built many homes and buildings in Stoughton. He was also the owner of Precision Door & Window in Stoughton since 1962. He was the founder of STOYAC, the youth athletic program in Stoughton. He was a member of Thorny Lea Golf Club and the Enterprise Club both in Brockton, American Legion Post 89, Sons of Italy and the Lions Club all in Stoughton. An avid Boston sports fan, he enjoyed playing golf and cards and spending time with his family.
Mr. DiStefano was the father of Deborah McNeill and her husband George, Anthony DiStefano and his wife Maureen and James DiStefano and his wife Karen all of Stoughton, Dorinda Doherty of Easton and the late Donna M. DiStefano and Albert DiStefano, Jr. He was the brother of Anthony DiStefano of Stoughton and the late John, Julio and James DiStefano and Mary Damiano. He was the father-in-law of Carol DiStefano of Stoughton. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Albie, Jaime, Shane, Ronny, Anthony, Jeanna, Jimmy, Robbie, Alanna, Jay, Alexa and Drew; his great-grandchildren, Dante and Stella, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, December 22 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 3-7 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Al's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
