Afonso V. Fraga, 85, died Wednesday, July 16 at the Brockton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Maria C. (Valadao) Fraga. Born, raised and educated in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he moved to Stoughton in 1966. He was a laborer at Morse Shoe in Canton for several years before retiring at age 60. He was a member of the San Joao Filarmonica Society in Stoughton. He enjoyed farming, cooking, fishing and whale hunting.
Mr. Fraga is survived by his daughters, Teresa Mendonca of S. Easton, Gabriela Mendonca and Fernanda Fraga both of Stoughton. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, July 21 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
